New summer signing Odin Thiago Holm didn’t feature for Celtic in Wednesday’s game against Yokohama F. Marinos.
Brendan Rodgers‘ side went down 6-4 to the slick hosts in a frantic match that saw a number of new players given opportunities.
Potential stars of the future like Ben McPherson, Ben Summers and Daniel Kelly all got a chance to impress in the closing stages of the match. Many supporters may have expected summer arrival Holm to get a shot too.
The 20-year-old arrived prior to the start of pre-season but updates on him have been few and far between so far.
Holm wasn’t in the 25-man match day squad for the game against the reigning J1 League champions, leading some supporters to question what was going on.
With no quotes from Rodgers either, the situation is a little unclear.

However, we do know that Holm is definitely in Japan, and was photographed by the club training inside the Nissan Stadium on Tuesday evening. (Celtic)
Holm is seen clearly in one image with the ball at his feet, so it doesn’t appear like he was just doing running work either.
Perhaps he arrived at the club with some sort of light injury and has been working his way up to full fitness since.
With him training on Tuesday, you’d hope he’d be able to play a part in Saturday’s clash against Gamba Osaka.

With two-and-a-half weeks to go until the start of the competitive action, there’s no reason to risk him unless he’s fit.
But getting him involved could be exactly what is needed to add a spark to pre-season and get everyone raring to go.
It seems like it’s only a matter of time before we see our new signing in action.
In other news, the Celtic support in Yokohama made plenty of noise despite the defeat
