Celtic remain top of the Scottish Premiership after the win over Kilmarnock at Rugby Park on Sunday afternoon.
Goals from Callum McGregor and Nicolas Kuhn put Kilmarnock to the sword and kept Celtic’s unbeaten league form intact.
Brendan Rodgers made two changes to the Celtic team which had the Hoops’ support wondering if Cameron Carter-Vickers was injured or not.
And speaking before the Kilmarnock win, the Celtic boss gave an update on the US international and why Carter-Vickers was left out of the matchday squad completely.
Celtic ‘didn’t want to risk’ Cameron Carter-Vickers vs Kilmarnock
The plastic Kilmarnock pitch is always a risky surface and after Carter-Vickers’ latest injury woes, Celtic boss Rodgers confirms he didn’t want to take any chances with him.
Rodgers told Sky Sports, “He’s ok, clearly not perfect unless he would have been here today. But had three games over a short period of time after being out for a little period.
“So he had Dundee, Aberdeen and Red Bull Leipzig in close proximity in terms of games. He just felt a little bit of fatigue in his hamstring in terms of the work we have put into him.
“But nothing serious but we didn’t want to risk anything today and he’ll be ready for Hearts when we get back.”
Cameron Carter-Vickers’ Celtic injury history
The big US defender is undoubtedly one of Celtic’s best and most reliable players.
However, Carter-Vickers isn’t without his injury problem as the Hoops defender hopefully makes an easy recovery from his hamstring problem.
So with that in mind, here is a complete rundown of every injury Carter-Vickers has had since joining Celtic.
