Celtic are looking to push through the deal to bring Brendan Rodgers back to the club by the end of the week, multiple outlets have reported on Tuesday.
As we discussed earlier, prominent shareholder Dermot Desmond and chairman Peter Lawwell are increasingly confident that Rodgers will say yes to the offer of succeeding Ange Postecoglou as manager.
Reporter Barry Anderson of The Scotsman and Edinburgh Evening News has stated Celtic are now looking to finalise an agreement by the end of the week, working to get things over the line as soon as possible.
The Scottish Sun, meanwhile, reports that Desmond is hopeful of a Rodgers confirmation over the next few days. All signs are pointing to Rodgers’ arrival sooner rather than later.
Once some sort of verbal commitment has been given, you’d expect things to move quickly. It’s reported that Celtic have made it clear that Rodgers is their preferred choice, so all we’re waiting on now is a confirmed yes before the i’s are dotted and the t’s crossed.
A strong financial package will smooth the deal, with reports indicating that Rodgers has been guaranteed a lucrative contract and a significant transfer kitty for this summer window.
This managerial search has taken plenty of twists and turns so far, and nothing is guaranteed here yet, of course. Just last week, initial reports indicated that Rodgers wasn’t actually keen on a return to Glasgow because he wanted to take time out of football following his Leicester City exit.
