Brendan Rodgers’ comments on the recent media briefings about him were as up-front as you can get.
Rodgers slammed the ‘cowardly’ act of the Celtic insider who briefed that he had been engineering his exit.
He also, albeit subtly, indicated that he knew the source of the leaked information. Aware of the legal ramifications of naming them, he hesitated to confirm this.
Regardless of the details, Rodgers made it clear how the situation had hurt him, and understandably so. He has been consistent in saying that he will honour the three years of his contract, at least.
Speaking on the incredible situation, one former Celtic stalwart has also revealed his strong feelings on the Parkhead leak.
Peter Grant reveals what he would’ve done in Brendan Rodgers situation
As well as spending 15 years as a player at Celtic Park, Grant has also had spells as the manager of clubs in England and Scotland.

So he definitely has an idea of the work it takes to be a football manager, day-to-day. Speaking on the Go Radio Football Show, he did not mince his words.
Grant said: “I’m a great believer that if you’ve got something to say, you have to put your name to it and not be willing to stand up and take the flak that comes along with it, whether you’re right or wrong.
“Brendan’s obviously got a feeling he knows who it is. What’s interesting for me – the ones who put it out and said it, were they at the press conference today?
“Because I know the type of character I am. I’d have asked them to tell me in front of everyone. If they’re willing to put it out there, and it’s me they’re talking about, I’d have asked about who it is.”
One wonders what would’ve happened if Rodgers did this – but his actions were telling enough.
Will someone resign from Celtic after Brendan Rodgers’ comments?
Rodgers said that there’s “no doubt” that the individual responsible for the briefing should resign.
He has also been clear that he maintains a positive relationship with Michael Nicholson and Dermot Desmond – the two most powerful people at the club.
So if they are on the manager’s side, the situation could be one to watch. The fans are overwhelmingly on the 52-year-old’s side too.
Many of them may not be in the ground when Sunday’s fixture against Kilmarnock kicks off – but if this is to be Rodgers’ final season at the club, it will be with the backing of the Celtic support.
