Celtic now have the Europa League to look forward to after crashing out of the Champions League last night.

Brendan Rodgers watched his Celtic team meekly give up their place amongst Europe’s elite clubs with a disastrous result against Kairat Almaty.

The penalty shoot-out loss means that the Celtic board and even manager, Brendan Rodgers have come under fire today.

And Peterborough United owner Darragh MacAnthony has warned the Celtic board that if they don’t get their act together, they could lose Rodgers before the end of the season.

Celtic board warned someone could ‘pluck’ Brendan Rodgers

MacAnthony was asked if Rodgers will walk from Celtic if the Parkhead board don’t back him in the transfer market now.

MacAnthony told Sky Sports, “I think the worry would be somebody plucking him. So look, the ownership itself need to sit down and tie him down. You either come together now after last night, or you’re fractured.

“So, over the next five or six days we’re going to find out very quickly.

“If they stay together and they obviously give him a new contract and make him promises, you guys are going to have to get on board with that move forward. “

Darragh MacAnthony tells Celtic to talk to the fans

With this Celtic board not being the most transparent when it comes to communicating with the fans, MacAnthony has told the Parkhead suits that they must talk to the Hoops support and let them know the plan.

MacAnthony continued, “I think the best thing the ownership can do is come out and just talk. Come out and be transparent. Say we want to run the club this way, this is the way it’s going to be so, we don’t end up a situation where we are in financial peril; we understand the frustrations.

“Just communicate and I think the fans would probably like that. They might not love it, but they’d like the transparency. And that’s something that needs to happen.”

Rodgers won’t walk from Celtic. The Hoops boss has made that perfectly clear for months now.

However, if a club decided to come in for the Celtic manager and he decided to take their offer, would fans be upset if he did go?

Our money is on the fact that many fans would not blame him if he did, now.
