“They are the biggest team”; Inverness CT finalist wants Sunday Celtic win over Rangers

Inverness Caledonian Thistle star Aaron Doran is hoping Celtic take care of Rangers in Sunday’s Scottish Cup semi-final to set up the biggest final possible for his team.

Doran came on as a substitute during today’s thumping 3-0 win over Falkirk in the other half of the draw at Hampden. He has also won the tournament before with the Highland side, starting the 2015 final that delivered enormous success under John Hughes.

Now he wants to make the most of this occasion eight years later and it is Celtic in his sights. Why? Because Ange Postecoglou’s team are the best in the country.

Doran wants Hampden date with Celtic instead of Rangers

Doran said [The Scotsman]: “I would like to play against Celtic. You always want to play against the big boys and they are the biggest team at the moment, the best team, that’s the sort of team you want to play against.

“We have nothing to lose. We can go out and express ourselves and you never know what might happen. The last time we played Celtic in the Scottish Cup semi-final they got a player sent off and we went on to win. I think we are a bit of a bogey team for Celtic but we will see tomorrow who we get. It is a massive achievement for the club and it was well-deserved today.

“Getting to another Scottish Cup final shows the spirit of the club, it is brilliant. I don’t think any fan would have thought that, after getting relegated a few years ago. It has been a great 10 or 11 years for me here and to get to two Scottish Cup finals is a massive achievement.”

It’s true they have picked up some cup shocks against the Bhoys over the years, but I’m sure this squad would relish the chance to show that they don’t have any bogey teams!

The final is due to take place on Saturday, June 3rd and will be a massive day for Inverness CT regardless of who they face. Obviously, all of us hope it is Celtic.

That is far from guaranteed, despite the Bhoys undoubtedly being the best team in Scotland. Anticipation and nerves are naturally building for what is a huge and competitive match at the national stadium tomorrow. I have a feeling it’ll be a bit of a roller-coaster afternoon win, lose, or draw.
