The Champions League is almost upon the Parkhead support as Club Brugge visits Celtic Park next week.
Brendan Rodgers has a great chance of making progress in the tournament by following up Celtic’s win over RB Leipzig with another victory over the Belgians.
A win would take Celtic onto 10 points and right in the mix for a play-off place and not too far off of automatic qualification into the last 16 of the tournament.
But it was what Neil McCann said about the Bhoys in the Champions League that should serve as a warning ti not just Brugge, but the whole of Europe according to the former Rangers attacker.
Celtic beating RB Leipzig sent ‘shockwaves’ in the Champions League
Celtic battling back from a goal down to beat RB Leipzig 3-1 was a massive confidence booster for Rodgers, the team and the Parkhead support.
But McCann reckons that result alone will have teams fearing coming to Celtic Park this season.
McCann told BBC Sportscene, “I think both sides are actually in a really good position to qualify. I think Celtic’s way of playing at the minute and how they’ve got in this groove, there’s an embarrassment of riches that they’ve actually got.
“You look at the bench today and how they can turnover and freshen the squad. That Leipzig, I think, would have sent shockwaves around Europe.
“That’s a really solid German Bundesliga side and they dismantled them at times and I thought they totally outplayed them.
“So yeah, the two Brugge teams, Cercle and Club Brugge, I don’t think it’s an easy game for either of those teams.
“I know they’ve got pedigree, especially Club Brugge, but I can see Celtic getting a great result and it would be great to see Hearts get one too.”
Celtic’s next three Champions League and what it could mean for Aston Villa clash
Celtic have still to face Brugges, Dinamo Zagreb, Young Boys and English Premier League side Aston Villa in the group phase.

Whilst many Celtic fans won’t want to go to Villa Park in need of a result to qualify, there is certainly no need to fear the Premier League club.
However, if Celtic can negotiate a win against Brugge, a point against Dinamo Zagreb and then beat Young Boys at Celtic Park, the Aston Villa game will become redundant in terms of qualifying from the league phase.
It doesn’t mean that the desire to beat the English club diminishes at all. All it means is that Celtic can travel to England with less pressure and go and play some free-flowing attacking football and show the clubs down south what they are all about.
