At the end of July some Celtic fans were desperate to sign Jordan Larsson. A vocal element of the support made their views clear on Twitter during the summer transfer window.
The son of the Celtic legend joined Russian giants Spartak Moscow in a last gasp move. Unfortunately, things aren’t going all according to plan for Larsson junior in his mega move.
However, scoring two goals in yesterday’s derby may improve his fortunes.

Perhaps rightly so, there were Celtic fans wanting to bring in another Larsson into the green and white hoops.

The 22-year-old was going through a bit of a purple patch back home in Sweden with Norrkoping. Last season the striker netted 11 goals in 16 appearances and interested many European clubs.
He made the reported £3.7 million move to Spartak Moscow from the Swedish side. The news of the potential move brought out many Celtic fans wanting Neil Lennon to hijack the deal.
One fan said: “Somebody should have been scouting him at Celtic, worth surely a punt.”
Another said: “If he is half as good as his Dad, then £4 million is a snip.”

However, the jury is out so far in regards to Larsson’s performances since for Spartak Moscow. Two goals in an impressive derby win against Lokomotiv Moscow yesterday is saving his blushes.

The two derby goals brought Larsson’s total up to four in the season for Spartak Moscow. Before that he had only scored two goals in nine matches for the capital side.

Spartak are a dismal seventh in the Russian top flight and are a team in free fall overall. The derby win was their first victory in five matches in the league.
Larsson isn’t being the talisman many hoped for but perhaps he is still adapting to playing in Russia. However, everyone will be hoping that the two derby goals are a massive shot in the arm.
