Timeline for Moritz Jenz and Aaron Mooy Celtic match involvement

Neither Moritz Jenz nor Aaron Mooy will be involved during tomorrow night’s Celtic match away to Legia Warsaw after signing for the club today.

Both players met their new teammates, manager and coaching staff at Lennoxtown earlier today as the squad prepared to fly out to Poland.

However, the Legia fixture will come too early, and both are expected to do work in Scotland before joining up will full team training on Friday, based on recent chats published by Celtic TV.

Jenz indicated in his first Celtic interview that he is good to go in terms of getting minutes, suggesting he would have even been up for playing in Poland.

But he is now targeting getting some minutes on the pitch when Norwich City come calling on Saturday afternoon, which is Celtic’s last pre-season friendly before the real stuff starts.

Based on Mooy’s interview, however, it sounds like he might need some warming up in training before being exposed to match action. He stated he hadn’t done ball work for a few weeks, likely since Australia’s international matches last month.

Going by how Postecoglou managed the club’s international group earlier this month, Mooy will need a week of training before being considered for selection, meaning his debut could come against Aberdeen at the end of the month.

So, expect to see Jenz on the pitch a bit sooner than the Australian, although neither should take too long to get up to speed.

Both players will likely get plenty of minutes this season with the schedule ahead, and I’m looking forward to seeing what both can offer in their respective positions.
