Former Celtic hero Tom Rogic is struggling for game-time at West Brom.
The Aussie attacker departed Celtic Park at the end of Ange Postecoglou‘s first season in charge.
The scenes in his final game against Motherwell at Celtic Park were glorious, and the fitting end to a brilliant Hoops career.
He spent several months without a club before eventually joining the Baggies on a one-year deal in mid-September. (West Brom)
Rogic took some time to get up to speed before featuring in many of West Brom‘s games after the World Cup.
However, his game time since then has been very limited. Rogic hasn’t started a single match since late January.
In West Brom’s past 16 matches, he has featured just seven times with the longest appearance being 33 minutes.
It is a far cry from the player who played in 32 of our 38 Premiership matches last season.
Rogic was an unused sub again last night as Albion fell to a 2-0 defeat to Sheffield United. For Celtic fans, it’s pretty tough so see such an amazing player reduced to a bit part at a lower level.
Rogic will now likely have a big decision to make again this summer.
His deal is said to have “a further year’s option in the club’s favour” (West Brom). You would have to doubt whether West Brom would be taking that up.
The Aussie is still only 30 and has so much more to give at a good level. He is likely to find himself in a similar place to where he was when he left Celtic.
Let’s hope he makes a better choice of club and can get back to doing what he does best.
In other news, Rogic’s old team-mate Filip Benkovic has been speaking about the atmosphere at Celtic Park
