Brendan Rodgers will be delighted by his side’s start to the campaign as Celtic enjoy some time off during the international break.

The Bhoys are still unbeaten domestically and have made admirable strides in the Champions League, alongside claiming their spot in the Premier Sports Cup final last month.

Truthfully, everyone has been on their game for Celtic, with the Bhoys utilising their squad depth efficiently across the board. Standouts have been easy to identify, with the likes of Nicolas Kuhn, Callum McGregor, and Alistair Johnston enjoying excellent individual success so far this campaign.

Nevertheless, Brendan Rodgers has catalysed their early season run, mixing his ability to improve his existing stock with a array of talent brought in via the transfer market.

With so much to be impressed about regarding Celtic’s exploits this term, Tony Watt has honed in on one player the Irishman will have been left in no doubt by amid his excellent form.

Tony Watt delves into Nicolas Kuhn’s rise at Celtic

Speaking on the Scottish Football Podcast, Watt touched on Nicolas Kuhn’s rise to prominence at Celtic, citing his football background and adaptation to life at Parkhead after early illness problems as key reasons behind his surge to the fore.

He explained: “No, not at all. I think he was at Leipzig, so I checked on Wikipedia, I thought it was Bayern Munich and I think he went to Bayern Munich after Ajax and when you look at the clubs you’ve just named there, Ajax, Leipzig and Bayern Munich, I don’t think there’s any way you should be surprised.

“These players are from good stock, these players learn to play football the right way and I think he had a little health problem the first six months, and I do believe that it’s not the easiest league to adapt to, we had boys at St Johnston that came up from England.

“A lot of boys don’t realise how fast the pace is and how good the standard is, I don’t think Scottish football gets the credit it deserves. I think that six months bedding in period is probably the best thing that happened to Kuhn, especially with a manager like Brendan Rodgers showing him how to play the way he wants to play.

“I think now he’s hit the ground running after a good pre-season, injury-free, which is key in pre-season. He’s came out firing, and I bet Brendan Rodgers isn’t surprised at how well he’s doing.”

Nicolas Kuhn becoming talismanic for Celtic

If ever you needed further proof of Kuhn’s importance to Celtic, his contribution against Kilmarnock last Sunday tells you everything you needed to know.

In a clash where the Bhoys found themselves in a delicate moment at Rugby Park after the hosts spurned several opportunities, the German winger stepped up to deliver the decisive blow as the Bhoys secured another crucial three points to stay at the summit.

Kuhn also has form for this, scoring the winner two minutes from time as Celtic saw off Ross County in Dingwall earlier in the campaign.

Now up to ten goals and 11 assists in 21 appearances across all competitions this term, the sky is the limit for the 24-year-old, who is becoming a talismanic figure in the Hoops’ bid for further success.
