Livingston boss David Martindale has praised Ange Postecoglou for his work at Celtic as he predicted that Dundee United won’t be the last side to be on the end of a demolishing this season.

On Sunday afternoon, the Hoops put in a record-breaking performance, defeating Dundee United 9-0 at Tannadice.

Ange Postecoglou’s side looked unstoppable going forward at times, as they continued to rip through the United defence and add to the scoresheet.

Currently, United are on a dreadful run of form, having suffered five defeats on the bounce, with the Bhoys’ emphatic victory adding to Jack Ross’ woes.

Next up for the Tannadice side is a trip to take on Livingston in the Premier Sports Cup 2nd round, as they look to bounce back from an extremely disappointing run of form.

Speaking ahead of Wednesday evening’s game, Livi boss David Martindale has pilled praise on Ange Postecoglou for his work at Celtic after an extremely impressive performance on Sunday afternoon.

Martindale stated that he is looking forward to seeing the Bhoys go head-to-head against Real Madrid in the Champions League and also predicted that Sunday won’t be the last time we see a scoreline like that for Celtic in Scotland this season.

He said [BT]: “That will not be the last time Celtic do that to teams. Dundee United will be coming here with a point to prove, and that will make our job even more difficult.

“I know some of their players, I know the coaching staff, and there is no way on earth they are going to take that lying down. It’s going to make our job very, very difficult.

“If I’m honest, I’d rather Dundee United were coming here with a wee bit of complacency, which will definitely not be the case.

“But I don’t think Dundee United will be the last team that Celtic do something very, very similar to this season.

“I think they are deploying tactics that some teams have maybe not picked up on as yet, but there is no doubt Ange has massively transformed the way Celtic play. Their recruitment has been very, very good, Ange has proven to be a very shrewd signing, and they are a top, top team.

“I’m really looking forward to Celtic-Real Madrid, Rangers-Liverpool, watching our top teams play against Europe’s top teams. I’m really, really excited about that and really looking forward to seeing how Ange does against Real Madrid. I think he will have a go.

“Massive credit to Celtic and Ange, and if I was Dundee United, I wouldn’t read too much into it because I don’t think they will be the last team that Celtic put six, seven, eight, nine past.”

Ange Postecoglou’s impressive Celts bound to hand out a few thrashings this season.

During Postecoglou’s first 12 months at Celtic, supporters became accustomed to the attacking and entertaining style of play.

Last season, we saw the Hoops hammer a few teams, including the likes of St Johnstone and St Mirren. However, those performances were arguably not on the level we saw yesterday.

Whenever the Bhoys went forward at Tannadice, our attacking and midfielder players looked like they would get on the scoresheet. And we even had two defenders scoring.

I think it is certainly a fair prediction for Martindale to make, and it is clear to see how much respect he, and the rest of the SPFL managers have for Ange Postecoglou.

They now face the tough task of figuring out how to stop this free-flowing Celtic side, who have looked excellent in the opening five games of the season.
