Ange Postecoglou appeared to have secured his Tottenham future after the former Celtic manager won the Europa League last week.
Postecoglou delivered the Premier League club’s first trophy in 17 years after the former Celtic boss won the Europa League with a 1-0 win over Man United.
That victory appeared to have bought the Australian manager some time as the Tottenham fans lauded Postecoglou for creating history at the London club.
But now, it appears that goodwill has expired after Brighton battered Spurs yesterday afternoon to end Postecoglou’s season with a defeat and put pressure back on the beleaguered Premier League boss.

Tottenham fans lose patience with Celtic hero Ange Postecoglou after Brighton embarrassment
Postecoglou looked like his Europa League celebrations were going to get off to a great start after Dominic Solanke put Spurs 1-0 up against Brighton early in the first half.
However, Fabian Hurzeler’s side rallied and fired in four second-half goals to batter Spurs and leave their fans fuming once again at the former Celtic boss.
One Spurs supporter seems to have had enough:
@scotthull92 also raged and said, “Thanks Ange Postecoglou for giving me one of the best days of my life, but it’s time to go.”
Another Tottenham supporter was fuming that his memory of Bilbao has been tarnished and said:
@PhilipBexley posted on X, “Regardless of a European trophy. Ange Postecoglou should not keep his job.” as @Serwano10 added, “Ange Postecoglou is one of the worst managers in Tottenham’s history and one of the most successful managers in Tottenham’s history is one the most Spurs things you will ever see.”
Another Tottenham fan, whilst unhappy at the result, said the club’s problems run deeper than Postecoglou.
What Celtic icon Ange Postecoglou told the BBC about his Tottenham future
With the pressure ramped back up on Postecoglou, the days he was held as a hero at Celtic must seem like a distant memory.
And even after winning a European trophy, the Spurs boss is still answering questions on his future at the club.
Postecoglou told the BBC, “I will be honest, I have been finding it really weird talking about my future when we have done something unprecedented,” he said.
“I have had to answer the questions because no-one else at the club is in the position to do so, I guess.
“You’re asking the wrong person. Everyone in the media is intelligent enough to know I’m not the person to know to ask those questions.
“I’ll have a break and then hopefully we’ll be back first day next season to start things.”
Whether the former Celtic boss will get another year in charge at Spurs is still up in the air and as Postecoglou takes a well-earned summer break, the speculation will continue to ramp up.
