Celtic supporters have been given just 1,264 tickets for the upcoming match away to Hearts at Tynecastle, meaning the criteria to get a brief is almost higher than ever.
Since the return to football from the height of the Covid-19 pandemic, supporters have found away allocations across the country getting smaller and smaller.
The upcoming match against the Jam Tarts is just the latest example, with the club today confirming the stringent criteria of having attended at least 42 away matches over three of the last four seasons, one of which was cut short.
That criteria wouldn’t even guarantee a ticket, with these supporters going into a random ballot for the match on Saturday 22nd October.
This isn’t a situation unique to Celtic at Tynecastle, with the Edinburgh side taking steps to house more home supporters in the Roseburn Stand, which used to house as many as 3,600 Hoops fans.
That’s now been cut in half, with security and segregation also taking a chunk of the available seating away. It all comes as demand to watch the Bhoys on the road only increases under the exciting Ange Postecoglou reign.
Thankfully, this match will at least be shown live on Sky Sports, which hasn’t always been the case in the last 18 months for away games with small allocations.
The fixture will kick off at 12:30 in Gorgie, which comes just a few days after a tough trip to Fir Park to face Motherwell in the quarter-final of the Premier Sports cup.
It’s all part of an immensely busy period for the Bhoys prior to the World Cup, with games coming on a weekend to mid-week basis without a break until then.
