UEFA confirm Celtic banked £40.3m from Champions League revenue

The Champions League has become critical for Celtic’s business model and revenue from participation in the competition has made the Hoops Scotland’s richest club.

Year on year, the elite UEFA competition raises Celtic’s profile and increases the club’s bank balance as the Bhoys do battle with the likes of Borussia Dortmund and Atalanta.

UEFA reports that Celtic earned €46.2m (£40.3m) from participating in last season’s tournament so it is little wonder that the interim results for the first half of this season have taken a hit.
