Unlucky 2018 Brendan Rodgers signing could finally play at Celtic Park as Scottish Premiership move beckons

Celtic have enjoyed a special relationship with players from Australia.

Aaron Mooy was a brilliant player for Celtic under Ange Postecoglou as was the legend that is Tom Rogic, as the Wizard of Oz spent eight years in Paradise collecting medal after medal.

Scott McDonald and Mark Viduka also enjoyed good spells at the club, scoring a combined total of 93 goals for Celtic.

However, not every Australian has enjoyed their time in Paradise. Marco Tilio has struggled at Celtic as his Parkhead future comes into focus.

Daniel Arzani also had an unlucky Celtic spell, after he picked up an ACL injury just weeks into a two-year loan deal under Brendan Rodgers in 2018.

It seems Arzani could face Rodgers at Celtic Park next season as the 26-year-old weighs up a move to the Scottish Premiership this summer.

Former Celtic loanee Daniel Arzani ‘weighing up’ Hearts move

Arzani never got the chance to play at Paradise after his injury effectively ended his Celtic spell. And after just 28 minutes in the green and white Hoops, it looks like he could eventually get his Parkhead debut next season.

ESPN journalist Mark Donaldson has shared that Arzani could be about to join Hearts this season as his current contract expires at the end of the season.

Taking to X, Donaldson said, “Former Celtic loanee Daniel Arzani is weighing up a move to Hearts.

“The 26 year-old Australian winger, who’s currently on international duty, is out of contract with Melbourne Victory (partly owned by Tony Bloom) at the end of this month.”

Celtic winger Marco Tilio broke Arzani’s heart after Melbourne City beat Melbourne Victory in the A-League Grand Final last weekend.

The Hoops support will be keen to see the Aussie strut his stuff, especially after what his Melbourne teammate and captain Roderick Miranda said about him after he joined the club in 2023.

Ex-Celtic loanee Daniel Arzani labelled ‘the biggest talent when it comes to an Australian player’

Arzani scored seven goals and created fourteen during his time in Melbourne, and it led to him receiving a call-up for the Australian national squad.

Speaking about the former Celtic winger, Miranda labelled Arzani as ‘unbelievable’ and the most talented Aussie he’s seen.

Miranda told News.com in 2023, “This kid is a special talent, the biggest talent I’ve seen here when it comes to Australian player, but now it’s up to him.

“This season he has something to prove, not only to himself, but to other people.

“His football is unbelievable. Every player that has played with him will say the same, but in the end, it’s about performance.

“I’ve met plenty of players with a lot of quality but sometimes for whatever reason, they cannot perform on the weekends, and that’s what matters.

“We are here to help him, and he’s really keen to help us as well by showing his best qualities and the best version of himself.

“Hopefully he can bring a lot of joy to us and enjoy his time here. It’s a good group of lads, so we will try to help everybody.”
