Celtic’s win over Hibs wasn’t the most polished performance of the season by the Bhoys but it did get the job done.

Arne Engels and Kyogo Furuhashi scored two of Celtic’s goals with Hibs star, Joe Newell adding another as Brendan Rodgers’ side stretched their lead at the top of the table.

With a healthy nine-point gap established at the top of the Scottish Premiership table and with a game in hand, Celtic are firmly in the driving seat to retain their title this season.

And Adam Idah reckons much of that is down to one of his Celtic teammates.

The Republic of Ireland international was on media duties after Celtic beat Hibs and took the time to praise Kasper Schmeichel after his man-of-the-match performance against the Easter Road club.

When asked if the Dane is the best goalkeeper he’s played with, Idah told Celtic TV, “I think so. He’s up there.

“I’ve played with some great goalkeepers, but seeing what he does, day in, day out and in games, he’s been brilliant.

“And I think everyone’s seen it today. The saves he pulls off are amazing. It does give us that confidence, then to go and try and help him out and make him keep a clean sheet.”

Kasper Schmeichel has been a stalwart for Celtic this season since taking over the gloves from former Hoops hero Joe Hart.

The Borussia Dortmund game aside, Schmeichel hasn’t conceded many goals in a Celtic jersey this season as the Denmark international helps Rodgers’ hopes of European progress chances of winning another treble.

And after yesterday’s win against Hibs, Schmeichel proved once again just how important he is for Celtic as the Bhoys’ relentless start to the season continues.
