Wilfried Nancy is still licking his wounds from being sacked by Celtic, but it appears that not everyone was aware of his dismissal.
Nancy was sacked by Celtic after a dismal run that saw him lose six of his eight games in charge.
Celtic had no choice but to part ways with the Frenchman, and have decided to reappoint Martin O’Neill for the rest of the season.
US football experts have criticised the Hoops for sacking Nancy, and it looks like some weren’t even aware of his sacking.
What do you think is the main reason Wilfried Nancy couldn’t buy a win as Celtic manager? 🤔
The stats are damning…
Burnley investor told to appoint Wilfried Nancy despite sacking
While the 48-year-old takes time to mull over his next move, others are already pitching him to other jobs.
American sports presenter Pat McAfee did that during an interview with NFL icon and minority investor at Burnley, JJ Watt.
Burnley are 19th in the Premier League and facing calls to sack Scott Parker. That led to McAfee suggesting that Nancy could be the man to replace him but, as well as incorrectly pronouncing Celtic, was unaware that he had also been sacked.
Speaking on the Pat McAfee show, he said: “If you are thinking about a new coach though, I got a guy. He was the Columbus Crew coach, then he goes over to Scotland and Shelltic (Celtic), is this not accurate? An MLS coach that got called to and coach elsewhere.”
The first thing I would do if I was on the Celtic board is – – – –
Where will Wilfried Nancy go next?
Moving to Celtic was the first big audition of Nancyball to the rest of Europe after impressing the MLS.
Sadly for him, there won’t be many people thinking that they would like a slice of that action.
Managing in France isn’t an idea that could be totally ruled out while a return to the US is another that is likely to be hotly considered.
After the madness of Celtic though, some time out will be needed first.
