USMNT supporters have been calling for manager Gregg Berhalter to call up Celtic centre-back Cameron Carter-Vickers after his derby exploits on Sunday.
Carter-Vickers got his name all over the back pages with a stunning Ibrox display as he bagged the winner in the Glasgow derby. However, it was his defensive performance that left everyone impressed.

Stat experts Fotmob have posted the numbers behind CCV’s performance, and they’re certainly impressive. Carter-Vickers was the highest-ranked player in the match with a score of 8.6/10. He also managed a sensational 8 clearances whilst winning 8 of his 10 individual duels throughout the contest.
Carter-Vickers has been solid for the Hoops all season. However, this was a performance that stood out from any other as he totally dominated Kemar Roofe and repelled the Rangers crosses that came into the penalty area.
It’s been a cracking season for the big USA international, who had fallen down the pecking order at Tottenham. A report from the Daily Record last night stated that his camp believes Celtic Park is the best place for his development too. Whether Celtic will decide to stump up the cash and come to an agreement is another matter.
Carter-Vickers has earned his USA recall, it’s time for him to be given an opportunity
Meanwhile, the USA as we all know will be at the World Cup in Qatar at the end of the year. Unfortunately, CCV’s last appearance for his country came back in 2019 in a cameo appearance against Jamaica. That call-up came after a productive year on loan with Swansea in the 2018/19 campaign.
Since then, Cameron has struggled to really become a first-choice at a top level. Now, he’s managed just that for Celtic. And if he stays and signs on for next season, it’s looking more and more likely as if he’s going to be a Champions League centre-back too.
Berhalter has already confirmed that he’s monitoring Carter-Vickers’ progress. Back in January, the USMNT manager highlighted the competition at centre-back, but stated CCV was “progressing well” [Glasgow Times].
Carter-Vickers is currently up against the likes of Walker Zimmerman, Chris Richards, and Aaron Long to name a few for the centre-back position. But the truth is it would be foolish to ignore what CCV is producing at Celtic Park this season.
And it certainly hasn’t gone unnoticed by the USA supporters, many of whom are itching to see Carter-Vickers his big chance to impress before the World Cup. Here’s a look at some of the reaction to his from after the Glasgow derby:
