New York Red Bulls’ Celtic connection is alive and well tonight after former winger Lewis Morgan scored a stunning first-half hat-trick away to Toronto FC.
Morgan joined the club in the MLS off-season last December and only recently made his debut when the league returned for the 2022 campaign.
He’s now intent on announcing himself as one of the top talents across the Atlantic, combining with former Celtic striker Patryk Klimala three times today to send his team on the way to a big win.
The pick of the bunch was probably his first. Klimala picked him out from the right flank, before Morgan curled home a beauty. You can see the video on the official NYRB Twitter account or embedded above.
Goals number two and three are also available to view on the club’s official Twitter account. New York are 4-1 up at half-time at the time of publishing.
Remarkably, the man who assisted Klimala’s first goal of the season last week? None other than Lewis Morgan.
The two former Celtic men have now created four goals between themselves in two weeks, which bodes well for a successful season for both in the months to come.
This isn’t any evidence they are that missed at Celtic of course, but it is nice to see them doing well for themselves abroad after it didn’t quite work out in Glasgow.
We always like checking in on former talents now and again, especially when they make notable impressions in high-profile leagues.
It comes after former manager Ronny Deila even won the entire MLS in 2021 with NYRB’s rivals New York City FC, much to the delight of Celtic fans.
