A sheepish Joe Hart had to apologise to a Norwegian television presenter this week after hitting her with a stray football in his pre-match warm-up.
Hart clipped the TV2 presenter with an errant pass ahead of the fixture against Shakhtar Donetsk in Warsaw on Wednesday night which, is fair to say, took her by surprise on a live broadcast.
After the game, he was jokingly confronted in an interview, with the clip being viewed close to one million times across TV2’s social media channels.
The Celtic goalkeeper said: “Oh yeah sorry, I was begging to say sorry but you didn’t turn around. Apologies! Were you live at the time? Sorry. My goalie coach was literally five yards away. That’s why my career has gone the way it has gone.”
I’ve not often seen Hart embarrassed, but he had a genuine red face here which is all good fun. Candid moments like this are increasingly rare in football, so it’s a wee laugh to see one of our own characters in the spotlight.
Hart will be back between the sticks for Celtic this weekend to help push the Bhoys towards 21 points from 21 at the start of the Scottish Premiership season.
The former England international has been almost ever-present for the Hoops this term, save for a Premier Sports Cup clash which allowed Benjamin Siegrist to get some minutes, following a head knock suffered by Hart.
Hopefully, he can continue his good form in Paisley, albeit without the pre-match incident this time!
