Celtic supporting MMA star Molly McCann picked up a massive knockout win at tonight’s big UFC event in London.
McCann, a proud Liverpudlian, was fighting Luana Carolina in the Women’s Flyweight division in front of a passionate crowd at the O2 Arena.
It’s her second successive UFC win after defeating Ji Yeon Kim in a ‘fight of the night’ performance back in September of last year.
You can see a video of tonight’s action on the BT Sport UFC Twitter account or embedded below.
Nicknamed ‘Meatball’, McCann has become one of the most iconic and recognisable fighters on the UK MMA scene for her high energy, no fear fighting style.
She’s a known Everton supporter, which is where her true loyalties lie, but over the last couple of years has definitely also identified as a Celtic fan, spotted training in club gear and sharing Hoops excitement online.
Even her most recent fight camp was Celtic-inspired, beaming to receive a signed Daizen Maeda shirt on social media.
The 31-year-old was in imperious form tonight, starting the fight on the front foot and dazing Carolina early.
It was a stunning spinning elbow that secured the knockout win in the third round, with everyone at the O2 Arena on their feet in appreciation.
Even experienced MMA analysts such as Ariel Helwani were calling it a knockout of the year contender on Twitter.
The future is bright for Molly and we can’t wait to see where her career goes from here.
