Video: Former Celtic man Stuart Armstrong scores stunner in FA Cup
Former Celtic midfielder Stuart Armstrong scored a long-range stunner in the FA Cup this afternoon for Southampton.
Saints needed extra time to see off English Championship side Coventry City, with Armstrong equalising in the second half before Kyle Walker-Peters scored a 2-1 winner in extra-time.
Armstrong’s strike is definitely worth watching though, swerving into the top corner from around 25 yards. You can see it on the official FA Cup Twitter account via this link or embedded below.
Stuart Armstrong goal could kickstart his quiet Southampton season
As you may know, here at 67 Hail Hail we like to keep track of former Celtic players and how they’re doing in various leagues around Europe. A moment like this is always a good time to check-in.
Not as any criticism of Celtic of course, Armstrong wanted to leave and did so, but for me, it’s always nice to see former players doing well. Most of them, at least.
Armstrong is actually having a quiet year at Saints after an impressive 2020/21 campaign. He’s only managed 12 appearances in all competitions and today’s strike was his first goal of the season.
However, a goal like that could be enough to kickstart his season, put injuries behind him and fight his way back to form.
We know he’s capable of moments of magic like that and hopefully we see more of them over the coming months!
