Celtic were bombarded by complaints from supporters about Kris Boyd yesterday, The Daily Record has reported.
The paper says that the club have been left ‘seething’ by comments from Boyd they feel were ‘beyond the pale’ and encouraged players to do harm to club captain Callum McGregor, who is playing with a fractured cheekbone protected by a facemask.
As we discussed yesterday, the club released a short statement before Boyd himself responded with a ‘clarification’ of his comments, which he insists contained no ill-will towards McGregor.

Celtic consider their options on Kris Boyd debacle
Celtic, it’s said by The Record, are ‘unconvinced’ with his explanation and are still looking into the matter despite his response.
There are probably a few drastic options on the table for the club here, including the potential of a ‘ban’ or a formal complaint to The Scottish Sun or Sky Sports, by whom he’s employed to provide content and analysis.
At the moment it doesn’t look like Boyd is prepared to apologise publicly, although he’d do well to do so in private at least given the strength of feeling on this matter.
Celtic supporters have made themselves heard and the club appears willing to back them up on it.
Boyd has no obligation to Celtic of course, but as a supposed analyst of the game, it would be professional of him to acknowledge his error.
Suggesting opponents should test out the face mask of a Celtic player crosses the line.

No doubt there will be more on this over the next few days, especially with the Bhoys due to be broadcast live on Sky Sports tomorrow at Fir Park.
It seems likely Boyd won’t be in attendance, with Sky also broadcasting live from Ibrox later in the day.
In other news, Matt O’Riley blown away by interaction with Celtic supporters walking around Glasgow.
