Reported Celtic target Mohanad Jeahze today provided a class assist for Hammarby that will surely go down well with Ange Postecoglou.

The Hoops have a reported interest in the Iraq international, with Swedish outlet Expressen believing that Hammarby hve already identified their replacement. For now, however, he’s cracking on with his current club.

And after scoring a stunning freekick in the 2-2 draw vs AIK last week, he’s conjured up another moment of brilliance in this afternoon’s 3-0 win over Norrkoping. You can watch the video for yourself below:

The goal comes through Jeahze’s comfortability in the inverted full-back role. He brings it into a more central area before passing to the winger. He then goes on the underlap and on the blind side of the backline before receiving the ball back and delivering a fine cutback. From there, Darijan Bojanic has the simple job of tapping it home.

Ange has regularly utilised his full-backs in a similar manner this season, with the likes of Greg Taylor, Josip Juranovic, and Anthony Ralston all comfortable coming inside.

Jeahze has most recently played down the idea a move was imminent [Fotboll Direkt], but it looks as though the Hoops continue to be interested.

Mohanad Jeahze producing for Hammarby as Celtic fans watch on

It’s great to see Jeahze continuing to produce the goods for his current club. It’s promising from a Celtic fan’s perspective that his attitude or commitment to the Swedish outfit hasn’t changed. It says a lot about his mentality.

And for Ange it’ll be extremely pleasing to see him play such a key role in this manner. One of the biggest challenges any full-back would have in the manager’s system is adjusting to that inverted full-back role. Whilst we can’t tell from one clip how he would fare over the course of a season, it’s a sign he has plenty of experience carrying that task out.

It was also good to see how composed he was with his cutback to Bojanic. It would’ve been easy for him to simply fire the ball across the face of goal and pray for a touch. That he had the intelligence and awareness to play the cutback shows real quality.

The more you see of Jeahze, the more you see why Celtic would be interested here. He’s clearly an invaluable member of the Hammarby squad. But Celtic Park would be a major step-up for the player.

It’ll be interesting to see if this one moves fairly quickly given the manager has already outlined that he wants players in before pre-season next month [The Scotsman].

For now, however, Jeahze continues to impress as Hammarby march on.
