Viljami Sinisalo admitted that his personal record for Celtic at Ibrox was “funny to hear”.
Sinisalo was voted as the man of the match on TalkingPoints after keeping Rangers at bay in the Scottish Cup penalty shootout win.
The 24-year-old taunted the home supporters and has become a real hit with the Hoops fanbase and has learned that he is one of the lucky players yet to taste defeat at Ibrox.
Should Viljami Sinisalo be the long-term replacement for Kasper Schmeichel?
Viljami Sinisalo is unbeaten at Ibrox
Since joining Celtic, Sinisalo has played at Ibrox three times and hasn’t lost once.
That’s an impressive feat to have in the Glasgow derby, and the Finland international admitted that it was humorous to hear.
“That’s funny to hear,” he told Celtic TV. “I’m just there to do my best for the team and if we manage to pick up results on the way, I’m just happy with that.

I suppose it’s what every footballer wants to do. We want to play in the very biggest games—which that fixture certainly is.
“It’s always what every footballer has been wanting to do; these are the games you come here and want to really be a part of.”
Viljami Sinisalo vs Kasper Schmeichel stats comparison
Kasper Schmeichel has been the number one for the majority of the season but it appears that Sinisalo will be that man for the rest of the campaign.
Schmeichel has obviously played a lot more games, but the stats based on averages are not too far out.
| Stats | Viljami Sinisalo | Kasper Schmeichel |
|---|---|---|
| Appearances | 3 | 26 |
| Clean sheets | 0 | 12 |
| Goals conceded | 5 | 26 |
| Saves | 3 | 60 |
| Goals prevented | -0.9 | -0.3 |
| Average rating | 6.43 | 7.04 |
For example, the 39-year-old has conceded 26 goals from 26 games, equating to one-per-game whereas Sinisalo has let in five in three appearances.
Where the Finnish ‘keeper does trump his rival is that he has prevented more goals and, since going in goal, the Bhoys are yet to lose.
