In the week Kieran Tierney departed for big bucks to Arsenal, other massive moves are making waves.
The 22-year-old didn’t play for the Gunners as he is still recovering from injury. Nevertheless, Tierney is in training and Neil Lennon said he was a week from fitness.
Former loanee Denayer was announced Lyon captain and led ex-striker Dembele to victory in Ligue 1. It’s taken some time but the Belgian is showing what the Hoops faithful knew Whereas Dembele continues to show the likes of Manchester United what they are missing.
Two Ronny Deila teammates also got on the scoresheet for either side in the Liverpool and Norwich game. Van Dijk‘s header secured the match for the reds while Teemu Pukki scored a consolation before being hooked.
All in all, the English based Celts in the top league are having a good time down south.
It wasn’t all sunshine and rainbows for ex-Celts
Not every former Hoop had a weekend to remember though.
Scott Allan’s Hibs were trounced by Rangers at Ibrox despite him setting up the consolation goal.
Timothy Weah’s Lille were victorious at home to Nantes but he was booked on the 65th minute.
Another loanee from last season Oliver Burke couldn’t get the vital winning goal from the bench against Millwall.
Lastly, David Marshall and Danny Fox’s Wigan were trounced by Preston North End.
It’ll be interesting to see who will impress their new teams in the coming season’s matches.
