Wasn't overly impressed with recruitment plans; Eddie Howe's side of the story on Celtic debacle
As you’ll know by now Eddie Howe isn’t coming to Celtic. The club confirmed the news to 67 Hail Hail earlier this afternoon.
As we discussed, Celtic have told us they are in advanced discussions with another candidate.
Yet, it’s going to take a while to get over this Howe business. We know Celtic’s side of the story – that was made abundantly clear.
But what of Howe’s take on negotiations and why they fell apart?
That’s not quite as crystal clear yet and it’ll be interesting to see what comes out over the weekend.
However, we do have something of an indication from Talksport journalist Alex Crook. A reporter close to Bournemouth over the years, I suspect he’ll have a good idea of the perspective from the Howe camp.
This afternoon he has reported that it was Celtic who have failed to deliver the backroom staff and that Howe wasn’t overly impressed with our recruitment plans.
He said on Twitter: “As per some reports in Scotland, looks like Eddie Howe to Celtic is off. His personal terms have been agreed for a while but was subject to getting the backroom staff he wanted which Celtic have been unable to deliver. He wasn’t overly impressed with recruitment plans either.”

It’s all a complete mess I’m sure you’ll agree. It’s also really difficult to know exactly what has gone on.
At the very least it appears Celtic were willing to progress pretty strongly on a promise. So really, it’s on them it’s collapsed so publicly and dramatically.
Should we have let it get to this stage knowing there was a chance a backroom staff couldn’t be assembled?
That’ll be the debate that continues on over the next few days as we consider a future with another candidate.
