Celtic are in advanced discussions with a managerial alternative to Eddie Howe.
The club has briefed 67 Hail Hail this afternoon on the situation at Celtic Park and why the former Bournemouth man isn’t coming to Glasgow.
Our information is that Howe told Celtic weeks ago he was willing to become manager of the club.
However, he asked for time and for the Bournemouth season to finish first so he could assemble his backroom staff.
Celtic allowed that situation to progress because they believed in his candidacy and were assured it could all be delivered.
Howe has told the club today he couldn’t assemble the team he wanted to work with in Scotland. Reasons for this failure include family obligations and an inability to leave contracts at Bournemouth, it was told to 67 Hail Hail.
When asked about a timeline of a new managerial appointment, the reply was that club are in advanced talks with another, unnamed target.
Eddie Howe saga yet another catastrophic drama for Celtic
With Celtic already selling season tickets, this is the least welcome news heading into a bank holiday weekend.
It’s a fairly catastrophic failure and another sign for supporters that the club isn’t operating in the manner it should be.
Fans have been waiting months on a new manager. Neil Lennon resigned from his position in February and we’ve had to endure a pretty underwhelming interim John Kennedy reign.
With European qualifiers now less than two months away against opposition from Austria, Denmark or Turkey, we really need someone in the door and quickly.
Hopefully, the club do have irons in the fire. They were adamant another target is being lined up. The proof will be in the pudding.
There isn’t much trust left.
In other news, BBC set to air SWPL clash this weekend.
