Well, surprise surprise, Odsonne Edouard has done it again for France under-21s against Iceland this afternoon.

The Celtic superstar has hit the target once again to make it an astonishing 17 goals in 13 appearances for the French youngsters.

Today’s goal is just as important as any of them. A win will secure France progression to the knockout rounds of the Euro U-21 championship this summer. Eddy’s goal has put them 2-0 ahead, with the game currently halted for half-time at the time of writing.

And it was yet another stunner from the big Frenchman too. Watch the superb chip for yourself in the clip below:

Exactly what Celtic will want to see from their biggest asset

This is promising stuff from a Celtic perspective. With the under-21 Euros well known for being watched by scouts from all over, having Edouard in the limelight is what we need.

It also likely guarantees France their spot in the latter stages later this summer. That should also allow the Celtic striker the chance to bulk up his value even more.

The scary part is the game this afternoon isn’t even over. There are another 45 minutes to get through where Edouard could add to his reputation even further. This under-21 records is getting absolutely ridiculous, and Celtic could profit from it.

When he’s on his game like this, he’s an absolute joy to watch. Yes there is a major difference in senior football compared to youth matches, but he’s up against some of Europe’s best wonderkids. It’s not as if he’s up against bang average academy players here.

So this was another big moment for him. And at the very least, it’s provided Edouard with the opportunity to impress the scouts even more after the domestic campaign is over. For Celtic, that can only be a good thing.

In other news, Mark Wilson has made an interesting claim about the Celtic managerial hotseat.
