The big Glasgow Derby between Celtic and Rangers always brings out the passion of the fans.

As for the pundits in the game, the Derby almost always tends to show which of the Celtic and Rangers leaning ones are feeling the heat in the big build up. Pundits like Chris Sutton and former Rangers striker Kris Boyd.

Now, much of the talk as been about Rangers delivering a Celtic a guard of honour as Brendan Rodgers’ side go to Ibrox as the Scottish champions. It’s widely agreed that that will not happen.

However, there is another discussion going on about whether or not today’s Glasgow Derby is a dead rubber because the league is over and Sutton absolutely schools Boyd and Steven Naismith with another Celtic truth both former Rangers players simply could not handle.

Celtic hero Sutton obliterates Rangers’ ‘losers mentality’

Sutton was looking back on Rangers’ last-minute draw with Aberdeen and hailed the rescued point as proof that the Ibrox club’s mentality is not as strong as Celtic’s.

That comment didn’t go down too well with Naismith and Boyd as both pundits scrambled around trying to defend their former club.

Sutton said on The Warm Up [9m 50s], “How can you assess Rangers, it is a dead rubber.”

Boyd: “There’s no such thing as a dead rubber.”

Sutton: “It is a dead rubber, What can Rangers do? Close the gap to 14 points?”

Boyd: “So you went into an Old F-rm game thinking it was a dead rubber?”

Sutton: “Well, I’ll tell you the difference between Celtic and Rangers. I touched on this earlier. Mentality. I still speak to people about this. I still can’t fathom that last minute equaliser at Aberdeen, the Rangers bench erupted and celebrated like they did. That was the league finished that day. That is a complete losers mentality there.”

Naismith: “Do you not just think that’s in the moment, though? In the moment, last minute, you get something out game, no?”

Sutton: “Oh come on! Drawing at Aberdeen, and you know you’re not going to get 42 goals back. What would you thought?”

Naismith: “I understand that. I understand that.”

Sutton: “Would you have celebrated?”

Naismith: “Just in that moment, yeah.”

Boyd: “The point is, in the moment, you’ve got yourself back in the game, but the harsh reality is, when you’re back in the dressing room. It’s just the moment in that you’ve scored a goal.”

Sutton: “The Rangers bench were turning round to the Aberdeen fans… You’ve just lost the league. That’s the league, done. Oh, I mean, it’s just mental. Honestly, I think that’s a losers mentality.”

When Chris Sutton called out Boyd over Celtic’s trophy count vs Rangers

Indeed, this is not the first time Sutton has left Boyd rattled when it comes to comparing Celtic and Rangers.

Just last season, Sutton left Boyd rattled again when the former Rangers man proudly declared that his old club were still ahead of Celtic in terms of trophy count, when the big man said this:

Now that Sutton proved he was correct then, he has just proven once again that when it comes to telling the truth about Celtic and Rangers, his co-presenters don’t like it one bit.
