Celtic fans are now on cloud nine and they have every right to be.
After a very long time, the Celtic faithful are watching their team put in some high-quality performances in the Champions League.
Put aside Brendan Rodgers watching his team concede seven to Borussia Dortmund, the performances around that have been simply outstanding and there has only been one major blip all season long.
What’s even better is that Celtic’s win over RB Leipzig wasn’t just deserved, but it was dominant, even after going a goal down early on.
It’s further proof that this club is reaching higher levels and this newly revamped Champions League format is working in their favour.
Before a ball was kicked, many thought that would be the case and now that hope is becoming a reality because anything is possible with four more game weeks remaining.
Jamie Carragher and Micah Richards delighted for Celtic in the Champions League
With the new Champions League format, comes a new table and the 36-man table makes for interesting viewing after each passing week.
Jamie Carragher and Micah Richards, for CBS Sports, were going through the latest Champions League standings in their own typical way, with some music in the background and some humour.
The Bhoys are on a bit of a momentum charge, sitting in 15th and only two points behind sixth-placed Barcelona and three points behind second-placed Sporting Lisbon.
And Carragher and Richards love the fact that this new format is suiting Celtic.
“You’re happy with Celtic,” said Carragher to Richards. “Your man, your man (ex-Manchester City teammate Kasper Schmeichel).”
Richards then screamed: “Celtic, yes!!! That’s why we like the new format. Celtic, absolutely brilliant.”
Celtic’s remaining Champions League fixtures
It’s the halfway stage, but the Champions League league stage doesn’t finish until the end of January and that’s still a long way away.
There is rightfully more belief in the Celtic camp now, but they face a tricky home tie against Club Brugge after the international break – they beat Aston Villa last time out.
Then on December 10, it’s a trip to Croatia to face Dinamo Zagreb, who after conceding nine goals to Bayern Munich on the opening night, have picked up a respectable seven points since.
The final home game will be against Young Boys, before Celtic’s all-British showdown against John McGinn’s Aston Villa on January 29.
