It’s been a great week for Celtic in the Champions League after the Parkhead club beat RB Leipzig on matchday four.

In a superb team performance, the Bhoys took apart Leipzig to claim another three precious Champions League points as Brendan Rodgers’ plan to get out of the group stage starts to come to fruition.

Goals from Nicolas Kuhn and Reo Hatate sealed the win and put Celtic firmly in the driving seat with Club Brugges set to visit Parkhead next.

So now that every matchday four fixture is complete, where does Celtic now sit in the Champions League standings after shock results for Arsenal and Man City last night?

Celtic level on points in Champions League after Arsenal and Man City results

Celtic are now on seven points after two wins, a defeat and a draw against Serie A side Atalanta. Arsenal suffered a defeat against Inter Milan last night after losing 1-0 in the San Siro.

Man City didn’t fare any better either after Sporting Lisbon trounced them 4-1 on Tuesday night and after those results, the mega-rich clubs of the English Premier League now sit level on points with Celtic in Europe’s elite competition.

Man City sit 10th and Arsenal sit 12th in the league. Celtic are 15th with only two goals separating the Bhoys from the London club with Pep Guardiola’s side six goals better off.

How Celtic can qualify for Champions League play-off place after RB Leipzig win

The great thing about Celtic’s position now is that their destiny is in their own hands. Brendan Rodgers doesn’t need to rely on favours from anyone.

If Celtic beat Brugges that should be enough to secure a play-off place but should other results go their way.

Failing that, a win over Young Boys in Celtic’s next home fixture or even an away draw to Dinamo Zagreb at the beginning of December will be enough to ensure the Hoops escape from the group for the first time on over a decade.
