What 67 Hail Hail told BBC Sportsound about Ross Desmond’s unprecedented 2025 Celtic AGM appearance

Ross Desmond has certainly put the cat among the pigeons after his appearance at the 2025 Celtic AGM.

Desmond’s attack on the Celtic fans was something that has never been seen before at any level, never mind an official AGM, and he has certainly grabbed all the headlines.

Dermot Desmond’s son read out a pre-prepared statement at the Celtic AGM where he labelled the Hoops support as ‘bullies’ and ‘shameful’.

And now, 67 Hail Hail delivers our verdict on what Desmond said at the AGM as the fallout of the Celtic executive’s statement still reverberates around the Parkhead support.

Ross Desmond’s ‘open war’ declaration at the 2025 Celtic AGM called out

67 Hail Hail was invited onto BBC Sportsound prior to the Celtic AGM to speak about tonight’s game against St Mirren, but it was the shambolic meeting that dominated the conversation.

When asked by host Kenny McIntyre our thoughts over the events of the last couple of days, I told BBC Sportsound, “Kenny you’re probably the same kind of vintage as me where we remember Celtic in the 90s.

“I remember growing up in the 90s when Celtic have been through our troubles with the Kelly’s and Whites and having a CEO like Terry Cassidy, who was probably not universally liked by Celtic supporters.

“But I’ve never known a period in our history like this at all, where there’s been open, I don’t want to use the word war because that seems a bit click-baity, but it seems like an open war from the Celtic hierarchy on the fans.”

Ross Desmond’s ‘astounding’ attack on Celtic fans

In all the time following Celtic, there has never been a time, to our mind, where a statement like this was used to attack fans the way Desmond did, and we called it out on the BBC platform.

We continued, “That AGM yesterday was something else. It’s something I’ve never seen before in my life.

“And I have never seen a Parkhead executive speak to the fans the way that Ross Desmond did. And I never seen something like that allowed to happen before and for these claims to go unchecked.

“So for me, it was, it was quite an astounding watch, if I can say that.”

We were then asked how this can be resolved and if the board and the Celtic fans can recover, unfortunately it is my opinion that the fracture is large, it may never heal.
