The days of Ange Postecoglou at Celtic seem like a distant memory now to much of the Hoops support.

Don’t get me wrong, I am not saying that the popular Australian has been forgotten about. Not for one second but with all that has gone on since his departure, it seems like it’s been much longer than a year since Postecoglou clinched the treble and then left Glasgow for London.

Joining Spurs was a tough one to take for the Celtic fans but then came Brendan Rodgers who, after a tough season with injuries, managed to seal another domestic double.

But it was Celtic that was on Ange’s mind as he brought his Spurs team north of the border to take on Hearts in a pre-season friendly last night.

Postecoglou hails ‘wonderful’ Celtic

Spurs beat Hearts 5-1 in a second-half demolition job and as Postecoglou ran the rule over his team’s performance, he was asked about his time at Celtic.

Postecoglou said [Football Scotland], “Yeah, I loved my time here. Such an unbelievable club Celtic.

“The support I had from day one was unbelievable, but I enjoyed my whole time up here. I did, my family did, it was a great two years and I’ll always look back with great fondness.

“Obviously we had great success which helps but aside from that, just the life we lived and the people we met, it will always be a special time in our lives.”

Postecoglou took over Celtic at such a turbulent period in out history. After the trophyless COVID season, the club lost their manager, captain and CEO all at the same time.

The Australian, along with Callum McGregor, brought stability to the club and a brand of football and players that galvanised the support.

Now at Tottenham, Postecoglou will be hoping to take his winning touch to the London club and deliver them some much-sought-after silverware this season.
