Inverness Caley Thistle manager, Billy Dodds has revealed what Celtic manager, Ange Postecoglou said to him after the final whistle went at Hampden on Saturday evening. After Celtic won the treble, Postecoglou seems to have left a lasting impression on the Highland club’s boss with his comments on the Inverness player’s performance in the Scottish Cup Final.
When asked if Ange spoke to him post-match at Hampden, Dodds said [The Herald], “Yeah, he did. He’s a gentleman. He is dignified. I knew he was going to celebrate on Saturday night. I said to him ‘enjoy your celebrations’. He said to me ‘your boys were magnificent and gave you everything’.

“That’s the way it should be. You take that on board. I would have said the same to him if we had won. I think there is a dignified approach from certain managers and he was really good.
“And my boys were good, that’s the main thing. I knew they would do it. I knew we wouldn’t take a thumping.”
Even after creating history with Celtic, Postecoglou still took the time to recognise the efforts of the Inverness players. And so he should. They were impressive on the day.
The odds were completely stacked against them. The mid-table Scottish Championship side were overwhelming underdogs.

Ange Postecoglou’s Celtic are the champions of Scotland, had just beaten the third-placed team, Aberdeen in the SPFL 5-0 the week before the final and to top it all off, Inverness hadn’t had a competitive game for over a month.
Caley Thistle put up a very good fight against the Scottish champions and frustrated us for long periods of the game. But Celtic’s class eventually won the day after goals from Kyogo, Jota and Liel Abada sealed the treble.
Postecoglou’s words to Dodds were a nice touch of class from the Celtic manager. As the speculation increases that he is now heading south to Tottenham Hotspur, the Celtic manager’s post-match words to Dodds may well turn out to be his last to an opposing manager in Scotland.
