Celtic had to battle for a solid three points as Kilmarnock put up a decent showing in the Rugby Park Scottish Premiership win.

Celtic heroes Callum McGregor and Nicolas Kuhn grabbed the plaudits after both players scored to keep Brendan Rodgers’ unbeaten start to the domestic season going.

However, there was one player who was the name on the Celtic fans’ lips after the Rugby Park win and he is being lauded as ‘outstanding’ after the Kilmarnock victory.

‘What a signing’… Celtic fans laud Kasper Schmeichel

Kasper Schmeichel was excellent in Celtic’s win and pulled off some very important saves to stop the Hoops from going behind when the game was balanced at 0-0.

Even at 2-0 up, the big Dane was on top form as he denied Kilmarnock a way back into the match with some fine saves and the Celtic fans lauded the 38-year-old.

One Celtic fan said, “Take a bow Kasper Schmeichel who produced some outstanding stops today. What a signing he’s been.” whilst another Hoops fan took a cheeky dig at the Ibrox club, “Schmeichel is better with the ball at his feet than the entire Rangers team 😂.”

Another Celtic fan knows the reason why his team are top of the league now, “Three points brought to you by Kasper Schmeichel.”

One Celtic supporter was delighted with this…

And said, “Kasper Schmeichel made some huge saves today, most notably to deny Kennedy not long before Kuhn made it 2-0 – such a key moment.

“Easily man of the match & arguably Celtic’s signing of the summer. 👀 He isn’t too bad with the ball at his feet, either.”

And finally, this Celtic supporter simply put, “What a signing Kasper Schmeichel has been. MOTM.”

What Brendan Rodgers said about Kasper Schmeichel’s part in Celtic’s Kilmarnock win

Rodgers was over the moon with his whole Celtic team as he praised their ‘fighting football’ at Rugby Park.

However, on Schmeichel, the Celtic manager said, “We had a couple other chances to be more convincing but we knew also we had to defend well and needed Kasper to make some good saves.

“He was busy but he was also busy for us with the ball and how he could play through the pressure really, really helped us.

“We could break their lines and get through, but when it’s that pressure that’s coming up into your box and you have to defend it, then of course, you’re going to need your goalkeeper and your centre-halves to defend well and I thought they did that fantastically well.”

Schmeichel’s Kilmarnock clean sheet was Celtic’s 11th of the season as the Denmark ‘keeper continues to impress the fans since taking over Joe Hart’s gloves this summer.
