Kieran Tierney is heading to the 2026 World Cup with Scotland after the Celtic icon’s goal helped defeat Denmark 4-2 at Hampden.
It was a nervy night for the Scots who didn’t have a single Celtic player in their starting lineup despite Tierney and Anthony Ralston being called up.
Scotland knew a win over Denmark was a must to make it to the World Cup and Steve Clarke’s men came out of the traps with a stunning Scott McTominay overhead kick in the third minute.
Denmark clawed back from being behind twice and despite being down to ten men, Kasper Schmeichel’s team still had a foothold in the game.
However, nerves were calmed when Tierney expertly put away Scotland’s third goal as the Celtic man helped send the country into a frenzy.
And speaking post-match, Tierney shared how he was feeling as the Celtic star created Scotland history.

Celtic hero Kieran Tierney’s ‘unbelievable’ Scotland reaction
It all looked a bit ominous for Scotland as glorious failure was on the menu after Denmark equalised four minutes after Scotland went 2-1 up late in the game.
But Tierney had other ideas as he stepped up to the plate with just minutes to go to put the Dark Blues 3-2 up and here, the Celtic defender shares his raw emotions immediately after full time.
Tierney told BBC Sport Scotland, “Aw, it’s mental man. One of the best feelings ever. Unbelievable, this group, the staff, all the fans, everyone deserves it, man.
When asked what was going through his mind as he scored Scotland’s third goal, the Celtic hero said, “I don’t know. Too good to be true, kind of thing. Honestly.
“I see it got in the back [of the net]. I don’t know what I’ve done for my celebration. And then Kenny goes and finishes it off and that just takes all the pressure off. And what a night. Honestly.”
