What Willie Miller is telling Aberdeen to do against Celtic could play into Brendan Rodgers’ hands

The countdown to the big top-of-the-table Scottish Premiership clash between Celtic and Aberdeen is on as Willie Miller offers Jimmy Thelin some advice before the Parkhead trip.

Both clubs will be seeking an advantage going into the game, and Brendan Rodgers and Jimmy Thelin will be confident of a win.

But, as Celtic and Aberdeen prepare for the big game, what Willie Miller is telling his old club may play into Rodgers’ hands.

Miller tells Aberdeen ‘don’t change tactics’ vs Celtic

The Dons have been in good goalscoring form this season but have been weak defensively so when Miller delivers this message, it could be music to the Celtic manager’s ears.

Miller wrote in the Press & Journal, “If the Reds win, it does not make Aberdeen favourites for the league championship, and there will still be doubters who would look at the strength of the respective squads and expect the Hoops to recover from the setback and retain their title.

“However, this is certainly a live contest – unlike the last time Aberdeen managed to win in Glasgow’s East End on the final day of the 2017/18 season – and the result will be meaningful.

“It would undeniably create a football earthquake if the Dons can beat their rivals to go above them on points and seize the league summit.

“Thelin’s side are in a fantastic place at present, and the fans are loving every minute of watching this side.

“My message is: Don’t freeze, and don’t change the tactics. Go down and play the same exciting, attacking football with the same relentless attitude which has brought all of those wins so far.

“It might end in a draw. But even if Saturday’s game ends in defeat, Aberdeen can still come away having tested their hosts and shown they are capable of not just making up the Premiership numbers this season.”

Celtic could exploit Aberdeen’s defensive weaknesses

Of course, this isn’t the first time Miller has told Aberdeen not to fear Celtic but not many teams come to Glasgow to attack the Bhoys and come away with a win.

Celtic have a powerful attack with incredible pace and a defence that has only conceded one goal so far thie season.

If Aberdeen produce another defensive display like they did in their win against Hearts, then Rodgers can exploit that.

Celtic will be feeling, quite rightly, very confident about beating Aberdeen, after all the Bhoys have recorded some huge wins over The Dons since 2000.

If Rodgers can get his team playing the fast attacking football that has already seen off the likes of Kilmarnock, Rangers and Hearts this season and Aberdeen come out attacking, then all three points should remain in Glasgow this weekend.
