Celtic confirmed the signing of South Korean forward Hyeongyu Oh earlier on Wednesday.

The 21-year-old has joined the Ange Postecoglou revolution, signing a five year deal after moving from Suwon Samsung Bluewings.

He becomes our fourth signing of the month after the acquisitions of Yuki Kobayashi, Alistair Johnston and Tomoki Iwata.

Like many of our recent signings from Asia, information has been pretty scarce. But this morning we’ve been able to see more of the picture, via the club’s channels.

The obvious place to start is the name. Much of the transfer reporting prior to today had referred to Celtic’s latest signing as Oh Hyeon-gyu, much like his Wikipedia page.

The club have gone with Hyeongyu Oh in all of their communications today.

The Korean is likely to be known as Oh informally by fans. That is what will be written on the back of his shirt when playing.

Also on the back will be the number 19, last worn by Mikey Johnston prior to his loan move to Portugal. Can we read anything in to that?

Our latest signing is on Instagram and can be found at the handle oh.hyeongyu. He has over 36,000 followers already and that number is set to rise.

Finally, when can we expect Oh to make his Celtic debut?

Well, he has been in training today with his new Hoops team-mates. His last competitive outing seems to have been for South Korea in a pre World Cup qualifier against Iceland. But that was over two months ago.

He is only eligible to play once the club sort international clearance, but that is very unlikely to be an issue.

We could see him off the bench as early as Sunday at Tannadice. But perhaps Livingston a week today is a more likely place to start.

In other news, Oh has been speaking about the move to club media
