Celtic and RB Leipzig’s players held a minute silence before their Champions League tie in Glasgow this evening.

The two sets of players also have on black armbands in commemoration of the victims of flooding in Valencia, Spain.

Both squads took their place at the centre circle before kick-off in this evening’s European clash and stood in silence as a mark of respect to those who died.

UEFA confirmed earlier how all matches in the tournament as well as in the Europa League and Conference League will also pay tribute before matches this week.

“UEFA will hold a moment of silence at all UEFA club competition matches this week in memory of the victims of the deadly floods in Valencia and all those impacted in the region and beyond,” their statement read.

Tragedy struck as a year’s worth of rain hit Valencia last week where it claimed the lives of 217 people.

Major relief efforts as well as ongoing searches for missing locals continue.

Other areas in Spain have also been placed on red alert over potential rainfall which would be of significant danger.

Games in the region within Spain’s La Liga were postponed over the weekend but some matches did go ahead.

Celtic went behind early on in the game when Christoph Baumgartner’s reactions saw him head home from a corner.

They wouldn’t stay behind for too long, however.

Nicolas Kuhn curled in a delightful effort off the post and into the net after a smart run where he cut inside from the right-hand side with his left foot.

The German then smashed home the second of the game to turn the game on its head just before the break.
