Robbie Keane is set for fresh talks with Dermot Desmond this week.

The former Republic of Ireland striker is high on Celtic’s list to become the new manager, alongside club legend Martin O’Neill.

But as Celtic fans patiently wait to find out if Keane will take over at Parkhead, he will be making a trip to South Korea this weekend.

Keane retired from football in 2018, when he played for Indian Premier League side ATK, but it seems as though he will be lacing his football boots again.

It has been reported by Sky Sports that the 45-year-old will represent Liverpool legends, who will face off against Barcelona legends.

Robbie Keane will be in Seoul to play for Liverpool Legends against Barcelona Legends

It’s the norm for former players to turn up in these matches, regardless of whether they are legends of the club or not.

Keane only represented Liverpool for six months during the 2008-09 season, before abruptly leaving and re-joining Tottenham.

But Anthony Joseph has reported on social media that the Celtic manager target is ‘still expected’ to travel to South Korea to participate in the game.

It has been reported that the match will take place on Saturday at the Seoul World Cup Stadium for the Champions Impact tournament.

Either way, it will be interesting to see if the Celtic Park faithful have any answers on whether he will be the club’s next manager by then or not.

Keane’s playing career in numbers

Keane enjoyed a stellar career, playing for the likes of Tottenham, Wolves, Leeds United and Aston Villa in the Premier League, as well as earning 146 caps for Ireland.

From his staggering 739 career appearances on the domestic stage, only 19 of them were in the colours of Celtic, and many, at the time, wanted it to be a lot more.
