Steven Pressley ‘knows’ Celtic’s Benjamin Arthur from Brentford
The Dundee boss has some history with the new Celtic defender from his coaching days at Brentford as Pressley shares how he will approach the Parkhead tie.
Pressley told The Scottish Sun, “Our preparations now turn to Celtic. It will change because we were meant to be off on Thursday, but that will now be a training day.
“We will also train on Friday ahead of the cup game.
“We had hoped to get some footage of their new signings against Aberdeen but now we will look at footage to look at their individual threats.
“Benjamin Arthur is one I won’t have to do too much homework on because I know him from working closely with him at Brentford.”
What Benjamin Arthur thought about Steven Pressley at Brentford
Arthur formed a partnership with Josh Stephenson at Brentford as the Celtic defender recalls how Pressley helped him develop his game.
The new Celtic signing told Brentford’s official website, “There’s a good friendship there which is important. We have a relationship off the pitch which correlates to how we play together on the pitch.
“We both know how we play and we want to look after each other – that helps the team out massively.
“We looked back together through the games and did analysis with Steven Pressley [former head of individual player development], which helped us to both sit down and understand how we think and what we’re both doing in each moment.”
Is Arthur likely to start against Dundee on Saturday? Let’s hope so. Because if Pressley doesn’t do his homework on the Celtic defender and he scores, it leaves the Dens Park boss wide open to criticism.
