Wilfried Nancy has given his first sit-down interview as Celtic manager.

The man pursued for a number of weeks at Columbus Crew touched down at Lennoxtown on Wednesday, and has now taken over from Martin O’Neill.

He will lead the Bhoys out for the first time on Sunday, in a showpiece top-of-the-table clash against Hearts. It will be some occasion.

Nancy has a few days before then to implement his initial ideas, and plant the seeds that will hopefully grow into a great Celtic team.

In his first full-length address to Celtic fans, he got personal in his messaege.

Speaking to Celtic TV, Nancy revealed why Celtic is a perfect fit for him, due to his personal background.

He said: “It’s an honour to be here. I think that the connection with my background, and the story of Celtic, fits perfectly with the person that I am, and who I want to become.

“It’s a club for all, and the way I’ve been educated by my parents, it’s about being open-minded. It’s about having empathy for people, and understand also where they come from.

“And for me, the fact that I’ve been travelling a lot also, and I travelled a lot when I was young – so it helped me to see people with new eyes.

“I think that we fit really really well, as a human being but also as a coach, because the way -with a lot of humility – the way I see football, it’s a connection with the way I live.

“So, it’s a way of life, and the brand of Celtic fits me really well, and this is this is something that I love.

“Well, you use the phrase ‘a way of life’ – and for a Celtic supporter, it is a way of life.”

Fantastic stuff, and hopefully a fantastic appointment for Celtic.
