Winger admits he’s always dreamed of moving to Europe after links with Celtic

As Celtic continue their pursuit of their first summer signing, one linked player has spoken out about his immediate future.

Coast Rica’s Copa America winger, Andy Rojas, has been linked with a summer move to the Scottish champions and whilst there have been offers made for the Celtic-linked winger, it is not known if one of those have been from Brendan Rodgers.

With the fee to land Rojas said to be around £800,000 and at just 18, the signing of Rojas comes under the banner of a no-brainer for the club.

And it seems that a move to Europe also falls under the same category for the Herdiano attacker.

Rojas’ European ‘dream’

Having just won the Primera División title with his club and represented Costa Rica at the Copa America, Rojas just has another dream to fulfil in his fledgling football career.

Rojas said [Daily Record], “Nothing is known about my future yet. I am happy to win my first title with Herediano.

“I have to focus on being here until I am told something differently. I have to wait and see what happens. I’m calm, I’m still here in Costa Rica and the time will come, right now, I’m only thinking about being professional.

“But I have always dreamed of playing in Europe and I hope it comes true.

“Playing in the Copa America was a great experience for me and the coaching staff there told me to keep working and keep my feet on the ground.

“For me, it was another level and I hope I can keep improving to reach that stage again.”

Looking at his age and experience, the capture of Rojas would come under the ‘project’ banner. With Brendan Rodgers looking to add quality and first-team-ready players to his ranks, I do wonder whether or not there are any legs in this particular rumour.

However, as I said, at 18 and already achieved so much in the game, maybe the Celtic manager sees Rojas as a player who can compete for a first-team spot at Parkhead.
