Yosuke Ideguchi’s teammate drops injury return hint; on loan Celtic midfielder’s determination revealed

You have to feel for Yosuke Ideguchi don’t you? Part of a trio of Japanese transfers that included Reo Hatate and Daizen Maeda, the Hoops midfielder has had to watch from the sidelines as his fellow countrymen light up Celtic Park.

And when he finally got his chance against Alloa last season, he sustained an injury on his debut that kept him out the side for months. And now, on loan at Japanese side Avispa Fukuoka, history cruelly repeated itself when he sustained a broken ankle on his third appearance for the club.

The Japanese media report that the on loan Celtic midfielder appeared on a talkshow with Avispa Fukuoka teammate Masashi Kamekawa in Japan where the left back dropped a hint on Ideguchi’s fitness.

Kamekawa said, [Nishispo], “Yosuke is really close. I think he could play in the games even now.

“Even though he looks like this, he’s very serious, and even if the trainer says this much, he keeps trying to do more and more”.

It’s great to see his return from injury may not be too far off.

At least it sound like Ideguchi is battling to return to action as quickly as possible.

Does Ideguchi have a Celtic future?

I would love to say yes. But the signing of Tomoki Iwata coupled with the form of Reo Hatate and Matt O’Riley means that the 26 year old will find it difficult to stake a claim for a place on the bench, never mind the first team.

But I suppose a lot will depend on if there is any transfer movement over the summer. Ange Postecoglou is not averse to shipping out popular players if it meant improving the team.

The only question is this. Is Ideguchi better than what we already have at the club?

I suppose we need to see more of him to make that judgement but the fact that he was sent out on loan tells you all you need to know.
