Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou was not keen on criticising referee Nick Walsh following the bust-up between Cameron Carter-Vickers and Chris Kane during today’s match at Celtic Park.
Kane looked to kick Carter-Vickers while the defender was on the ground, before raising his hands to the Celtic loanee after his furious reaction. It was a moment that many Celtic fans feel should have been a red card.
However, Postecoglou laughed off the incident and backed referee Nick Walsh’s assessment of the situation.

Speaking to The Scottish Sun, he said: “I thought the referee handled it okay – people run in and they push and shove.
“I always have a chuckle at these things because I’m not always sure how keen some of those on the outskirts are to get involved!
“I thought the referee handled it well. I couldn’t see why Cameron got the yellow card but I’m 50 yards away.”
I’m sure if the manager saw replays of the incident he might have a different view of Kane’s actions. The kick out to Carter-Vickers is a red card in most leagues. Walsh was very lenient, especially since Kane got up and put his hands to the Celtic man’s face.
For some Celtic supporters, it’s another example of inept Scottish refereeing this season. There have been a number of incidents that have left a bitter taste in our mouths.
The Bhoys boss was also asked about a penalty incident in the second half when Jota was bundled over by goalkeeper Zander Clark.
For Postecoglou, it’s not something he wants to spend energy on, telling The Scottish Sun: “Over my years in management I have learned that you let those things go as much as you can.
“You can go down that rabbit hole and end up pulling your hair out. I try to let the officials handle these things.
“It’s important we don’t get frustrated at these kind of things because they can eat away at you and we need to focus on what is important to us.”
