‘You’re very good’ – Luis Palma hails departed Celtic star as he continues to shine

Luis Palma is enjoying life away from Celtic after heading for the exit door during the January transfer window.

It was an interesting winter transfer window as a whole for Celtic, including Palma joining Olympiacos on a loan deal until the end of the season.

The powers that be at Parkhead made the right call to move the 25-year-old on because it just wasn’t clicking for the wide attacking player under Brendan Rodgers.

But whilst some calls in January were understandable, others were more puzzling and it left more questions than answers.

It was all change at left-back for Celtic, after the campaign started with Greg Taylor as the starter and on-loan Barcelona youngster, Alex Valle as the back-up option.

Fast forward to the present, and it has changed for all.

With talk of Kieran Tierney returning to Celtic, the club cut short Valle’s loan spell, he headed back to the Nou Camp and then joined Cesc Fabregas at FC Como.

The Italian side, who are newly promoted to Serie A, are being financially backed by some big names, including Thierry Henry, and they are now trying to maintain their status in the top tier.

Valle’s performances for Como landed him his first minutes for Spain U21s during the recent international break, and he made his debut in a 2-2 friendly draw against the Czech Republic, before also featuring during a loss against Germany.

When the departed Celtic star took to Instagram to express his ‘pride’ at repping his country, Palma praised his former teammate in the comments section by telling him ‘You are very good, dude’.

Marc Bombardo also added by telling Valle ‘You are in your prime’, as he was rightfully getting the plaudits.

“It’s always a source of pride to be able to wear these colors again,” wrote Valle. “Grateful for the opportunity and confident that there’s still a long way to go to learn and improve.”

Jeffrey Schlupp has been brilliant for Celtic, but his loan deal from Crystal Palace was never needed in the first place.

If Celtic had just kept Valle on board, then everything would have been fine, but it seems as though the lure of Tierney possibly returning early fell flat on its face, and then the club needed to react on transfer deadline day.

Either way, life is still treating Valle well, and he is going good guns under Fabregas at Como, with WhoScored rating his performances at just under seven.
