Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou is already delivering on one of his latest transfer promises well in advance.

The 57-year-old has achieved great success in the transfer market since his arrival at the club in the summer of 2021.

The vast majority of Postecoglou’s signings have been successful, with the Bhoys shopping in markets across the globe, including South America and Asia.

The Bhoys have made a brilliant start to the domestic season in Scotland, winning 16 of their 17 games in the Scottish Premiership and Premier Sports cup.

However, the Celtic manager isn’t going to simply rest on that. He is looking to see his team kick on and improve even more in the coming months.

A key factor to improving in the second half of the campaign will be the Hoops recruitment as the club’s hierarchy targets new additions.

Although Postecoglou has been coy on which positions we will be targeting in January, he has been very open about what to expect from the club’s early transfer plans.

And the former Socceroos boss is looking to make several quick moves, as he did during the last winter window, signing the likes of Reo Hatate and Daizen Maeda on the opening day.

On many occasions, Postecoglou has stated that plans are already in place for the window, with his promises leaving Celtic supporters excited for the coming month.

Alongside Mark Lawwell and the rest of the recruitment staff, the ex-Yokohama F Marinos man has been busy working away on the Bhoys transfer strategy ahead of January.

Last month, in an interview, he said [Daily Record]: “It was really beneficial for us last year to do our business early in January. That helped us in the back half of the season. We’re going to have to do something similar this January. We are well underway with our planning.

“Our strategy is already in place, and hopefully, it all comes together. We’re looking everywhere in terms of our recruitment.

“Mark Lawwell is in the building now, and the reason I brought him in is that he knows what I am looking for. The brief is to scour the world for that.

“The Japanese and Asian market is one I’m really familiar with, and I still think there is value there for players, and I know how they would fit into what we do. We signed Alexandro Bernabei from Argentina, so South America is also an area we are looking at.

“With Mark now working and knowing how we do things, we know exactly what we’re looking for. There are some parameters financially we have to work with, but the key criteria is the kind of characters they are and how they conduct themselves. Whether they are from Europe, Asia, South America or Africa, we factor that into any player we bring in.”

Ange Postecoglou gets transfer business underway and delivers on promise well in advance.

And Celtic fans were left buzzing to see the club deliver on the early recruitment promise by adding their first signing of the winter window in November – Yuki Kobayashi.

It is an unfamiliar feeling for the fan base, who had become more acclimatised to the Hoops’ late dealings in the market before Postecoglou’s arrival.

However, it is a move that will have left all involved at the club delighted as we continue to take the steps needed in the right direction and follow through on the manager’s comments.

Earlier today, Celtic were even linked with more early moves in the market, with reports suggesting talks with Alistair Johnston were at an advanced stage.

Of course, it will be great to see the club make these early moves and have our key additions in by the first day of 2023. But, it is clear to see that the recruitment team know they must be ready to strike again in the winter market.

Here’s hoping we can continue to see the Bhoys hierarchy delivering on these promises, and there is no doubt in my mind we will see further improvements.
