Ange will show a ruthless edge with Vinicius Souza and other Celtic sticking points this summer
As the Celtic support have been left to ponder whether we’ll be able to sign Vinicius Souza or not, Ange has already made it clear he isn’t interested in selling the club to potential targets.
Souza perfectly sums up that of an “in-demand” player at the moment. He has several offers apparently already on the table whilst there’s also interest from Holland, Belgium, Italy, and Turkey respectively [Daily Record].
However, the most concerning thing from a Celtic perspective is that he has apparent reservations about playing in the Scottish Premiership [Sky Sports]. Ange Postecoglou is likely going to experience plenty of that this summer from those who have more than a few clubs interested in them.
He’s going to have players come to him and expect a pitch on why they should give us the honour of signing on at Parkhead. It’ll all be about what we can offer him instead of what the player can offer us.
But they shouldn’t expect Ange to go begging. In fact, if there’s even a sniff of hesitancy they’ll do well to keep the Celtic boss’ interest very long.
The package on offer at Celtic Park speaks for itself. We’re in the Champions League next term and go into it as champions and with a good chance of making a positive reputation for ourselves on the European stage.
Vinicius Souza and co won’t get any promises from Celtic boss
Ange has already made it clear that he doesn’t do selling the club to anyone. He fully expects them to instead be honoured regarding Celtic’s interest and understand what the Hoops provide for their players. You have to absolutely love that about him.
Look at Riley McGree for example. Despite being Ange’s first-choice midfield option in January, the manager refused to outline why Celtic would be a good move for the player. He flat out stated that he would refuse to every try and sell the club to anyone and that they need to see the opportunities that exist at Parkhead [Glasgow Times].
Make no mistake, Ange won’t be impressed one bit by Souza’s concerns or any other target he goes for. If players truly doubt the opportunity on offer at Celtic Park because of the Premiership or anything else, they can forget about a move here.
Sure, negotiations are negotiations. Players will always look to get the best deal for themselves financially and many will look for assurances. But the Celtic boss is trying to build something here that stands the test of time. With that comes players who don’t need sold on the club as it gives the manager a dressing-room of players who are excited to be at a club of this size.
He will never want to be put in a position where he feels the club is being done a favour by signing a player. Especially not with UCL football on the go next season.
It doesn’t matter if it’s Souza or anyone else, Ange isn’t the kind to go chasing you up desperate to bring you to our football club. That desire and passion for the project has to already be there.
In other news, Celtic could sign 3 more players before pre-season begins
